President Rodrigo R. Duterte will attend on March 2 the groundbreaking ceremony of the P30-billion Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, the third bridge that links mainland Cebu to the island of Mactan.
Spanning eight kilometers, the CCLEX will connect Cebu City with the town of Cordova in Cebu province. Apart from easing congestion from Mactan-Mandaue Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, it will also serve as an alternate route for travelers from mainland Cebu to Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
It will start from the mouth of the Guadalupe River to Shell Island and then Cordova. The project includes the construction of a toll plaza and causeway. The project, with a price tag of P30 billion, will be one of Duterte administration’s biggest outside of Metro Manila.
The four-lane CCLEX is set to be completed in 2020 and will be built, managed, and operated by Metro Pacific Tollways Development Corporation. The project also includes the construction of a toll plaza and causeway.
The Cebu side of the CCLEX will be in Cebu City, crossing the Mactan Channel to Shell Island in Cordova town, on the Mactan side.
